Director General's Message
Since the days we launched our first website, a little more than a decade ago, the Marine Department has gone through major transformations, evolving into becoming a lead agency in maritime safety in this country. The three Marine Departments of Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak, that previously operated quite independently, are now integrated as one Marine Department of Malaysia. Hence, it is an opportune time to launch a new website that is more customer friendly consolidating information of the three departments as well as integrating on-line services in one portal. This integration is in line with the Governments policy of 'One Service, One Delivery and No Wrong Door'. It will serve as a 'one-stop' access for our clients to get information and services from us from the comfort of their chairs. Whatever service you require, we will attend to it, albeit whether it is directed to Marine Department Peninsular Malaysia, Marine Department Sabah or Marine Department Sarawak. Our clients are just a 'click' away from getting our service.
Besides the integration of our homepage, we are leveraging on technologies to enhance our services. We have invested in building Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure for the future. We have introduced more on-line services including e-payment for payment of light dues. With pride, I must say that all our offices nationwide, even the most remotely located, are connected and accessible. With this extensive ICT infrastructure in place, we can guarantee our quality of service will be of the same standard, regardless where it is processed. With ICT, and coupled with having trained and competent officers possessing the right skills and attitude, we would be able to provide frontline delivery of the highest standard.
With the launch of this new homepage, we are confident, not only to deliver efficient services but also to raise the standard of our services and improve our service delivery as reflected in our Clients Charter. This is our commitment, to continually improve the safety of Malaysian ships, and to provide up-to-date information to all ships that navigate in our waters. Ultimately, our national goal is to ensure the competitiveness and sustainability of the Malaysian maritime transportation industry.
I sincerely wish this new homepage will benefit you and provide you with the information that will help you in your business. To help us improve and serve you better in the future, we welcome your feedback and suggestions, as customers satisfaction will always be our yardstick to measure how we fare in delivering our service. Please browse through our website and I hope you will find the information you want inside here. If not, contact us and let us assist you.
