Introduction

Objective

To ensure Malaysian ships comply with the safety standards as stipulated in the national laws and international conventions.

Functions

  • Monitor, manage and perform all inspections for statutory certificate and Flag State Control (FSC).

  • Plan, manage, coordinate and implement the Audit and Verification process under the requirements of the Ship Safety Management Code (ISM Code), International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code), guidelines and Safety Guidelines For Passenger Ferry (GPKF), Recognized Organisation (RO) and Life raft Services Station.

  • Coordinate and implement examination and issuance of certificate of competency.

Activities

  • Conduct inspection for issuance of Statutory Certificate, Safe Manning Certificate and Flag State Control

  • Conduct audit and verification process under the requirements of the Ship Safety Management Code (ISM Code), International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code), guidelines and Safety Guidelines For Passenger Ferry (GPKF), Recognized Organisation (RO) and Life raft Services Station.

  • Organize, manage, process applications for examinations and issuance of certificate of competency.

  • Manage the registration of local and foreign seafarers.
