PENANG, 1 October 2025 – Datuk Haji Dickson bin Dollah, Director General of the Malaysia Marine Department (MMD), outlined Malaysia’s priorities in advancing next-generation navigation services, developing decarbonisation initiatives, and strengthening the maritime community with greater roles for women and youth in his keynote address at the 16th Co-operation Forum (CF16), held from 29 – 30 September 2025 (Monday – Tuesday) in Penang, Malaysia.
The CF is one of the three pillars under the Co-operative Mechanism on Safety of Navigation and Environmental Protection in the Straits of Malacca and Singapore (SOMS), which was first launched by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in September 2007. The other two pillars are the Project Co-ordination Committee (PCC) and the Aids to Navigation (ATON) Fund.
Also present were Mr. Hernadi Tri Cahyanto, Director of Navigation, Directorate General of Sea Transportation, Republic of Indonesia, and Mr. Ang Wee Keong, Chief Executive, Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, together with their respective delegations.
