LICENSING OF BOATS
PROCEDURES TO BE FOLLOW FOR THE APPLICATION TO LICENSED A BOAT
according to
BOAT RULES 1953
(under the Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1952 as amended)
Application for Boat Licence
- An application for the licensing of a boat shall be made on a prescribed form - Application For Boat Licence (Schedule I).

Bill of Sale or Builder Certificate shall be submitted by applicant:-
- Bulider Certificate - in case of a newly built boat
- "Bill of Sale" - in case of change of ownership.
- Any boat to be licensed shall be subjected to inspection by the Port Officer to satisfy himself as to the construction, equipment measurement and loadlines of the boat.
- Date and time for the inspection will be decide by the Port Officer when the application is made.

After the inspection and approval given the port Officer shall issue:
- a "Permanent Boat Number" constituting of alphabet and numbers
- License will be issue by the Port Officer . The period of validity of the boat licence shall not be longer than 12 month from the inspection date after the issuance date
- Fees for licensing of boat shall be in accordance to the Schedule 3
- Processing for the licence shall require at least 14 days
- Any incomplete application will not be attended to.
Renewal of Boat Licence
- Application for renewal shall be made in a prescribed form - Application of renewal of Licence Boat.
- Applications shall be made within seven days before the date of expiry endoresed there on.
- Any boat wishing to have its licence renewed shall be subject to inspection by the Port Officer. The period of validity of the boat licence shall not be longer than 12 month from the inspection date.
- After the inspection and approval given a new licence will be issued.
- Processing for the certificate shall be at least 14 days.
- Any incomplete application will not be attended to.
