What are the requirements to establish or set-up new
maritime training institutions?
Application for
establishment of maritime training institution shall be made to the Director
General of Marine Department Peninsular Malaysia. Please refer to NMPM 1/99 for guidelines for accreditation of training institutions.

Which clinic does a seafarer medical examination?
Marine Department
has approved panel clinics. The list of approved medical practitioner can
be found at our website or (click here)
What are the requirements to be an approved medical
practitioner by Marine Department?
Applicants need to fill-in the online application
(SDPX) completely and send it to Maritime Headquater together with all the credentials (Certifid True Copy) as belows:
v One (1) color
photograph (Identification Card photo size)
v Copy of
Identification Card
v Certificate of
Medical Practitioner
v Copy MMC
certificate
v Copy of
diploma/degree in Occupational Health/ Medicine or Certificate of attendance of
Familiarization course conducted by Marine Department.

Examination

What
are the fees for the Certificate of Recognition ?
The fees for COR
are as follows :-

Malaysian Ringgit 600.00

Renewal Application :
Malaysian Ringgit 600.00

Damaged / Lost : Malaysian
Ringgit : 100.00
Payment shall be made payable to 'Director of Marine' in postal order or Bank Darf.
How long does it take to process an application?
In normal
circumstances, the process shall be no longer than 3 months from the date a
complete application is received.
Does Malaysia accept applications from holders of other
countries Certificate of Competency?
Malaysia has signed
Memorandum of Understanding with scores of countries, mutually recognising
each other Certificate of Competencies. With these MOU, applications for Certificate
of Recognition from holders of Certificate of Competencies issued by those
countries will be accepted. (click here)
How long is the Certificate of Recognition valid?
The validity of Certificate of Recognition
shall not be longer than 1 year. If the validity of the Certificate of
Competency is less than 1 year, the validity of the COR will expire on the same
day the Certificate of Competency expires. When applying for COR, the validity
of the Certificate of Competency all not be less than 6 months, for the
application to be accepted and processed.
If I want to apply for Safe Manning Document, what are
the conditions which I need to fulfill?
Guidelines for the Application for Safe Manning Document or Certificate are explained in detail through NPM7/2009
and NPM29/2011.
How much does it cost to process a Safe Manning Document?
The fees for Safe
Manning Document are prescribed in the Marine Information Guidance Notes,
MIGN/2010. The
fee shall be paid before collecting the document.
How long does it take to process an application for Safe
Manning Document?
Usually, the
process shall take no longer than 1 month from the date a complete application
is received.
If my ship operates at two different trading limits, can
I apply for two different Safe Manning Documents?
A ship may apply
for two different Safe Manning Documents, e.g. Near Coastal and Unlimited
voyages. The Conditions for the application are laid out in Marine Information
Guidance Notes, NPM7/2009.
How long does a Safe Manning Document valid?
The validity of
the document shall not be longer than 5 years.
